2011, October 07 : ODAI Presents to Berkeley College Fellows - Open Access to Digital Cultural Heritage at Yale

In May, 2011, Yale University announced a new policy on open access to digital representations of works in the public domain from Yale’s museum, library and archive collections.  While several art museums and institutional collections have formally stopped asserting proprietary rights on images of public domain works, Yale’s policy is pioneering for its breadth, embracing all of the cultural institutions within Yale and asserting a University position on open access to its collections. 

2011, September 12 : Miriam Schroers to Join the Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure

The Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure is delighted to announce that Miriam Schroers will join the office, as project manager, on September 19, 2011. Miriam will manage a portfolio of digital content infrastructure projects and will work closely with the Yale community to coordinate all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation, to development, deployment, and maintenance. Please join us in giving Miriam a warm welcome to Yale.

2011, June 12 : ODAI Presents at DAM NY 2011 Digital Asset Management Conference

 The Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure was invited to present at Henry Stewart's DAM NY 2011 conference. Conference chairman David Lipsey encouraged Yale to present on it's experience using Digital Asset Management systems in higher education.

2011, May 10 : Yale University Announces New Policy on Open Access to Digital Representations of Works in the Public Domain

Yale University announced on Tuesday that it had a new policy on open access to digital representations of works in the public domain from museum, library, and archive collections at Yale University.  This decision was based on a Memo on open access to digital representations of works in the public domain from museum, library, and archive collections at Yale University (5 May 2011).  Collections will be available through the respective websites of the libraries, archives, and museums, and through Discover Yale Digital Content - a newly announced service from ODAI.

2011, May 08 : Howard Besser Meets with the YDC Forum

Cinema Studies Professor and Director of the Moving Image Archiving & Preservation Program, New York University, Howard Besser, met with the YDC Forum for a wide-ranging presentation on "Digital Media at the University." 2011, April 26 : Discover Yale Digital Content

Today we are pleased to formally announce the launch of Discover Yale Digital Content. From the site, users can search 1,500,000 digital assets from the Yale University Art Gallery, the Yale Center for British Art, the Yale Peabody Museum, the Lewis Walpole Library Print and Drawings, and the Yale University Library Map Collection, as well as iTunes podcasts produced by the Office of Digital Dissemination.

2011, April 01 : Presentation by Tony Hey

On March 23, 2011, Steve Girvin, Deputy Provost for Science and Technology, and Meg Bellinger, Director, Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure, hosted Tony Hey, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Research Connections, for a presentation on The Fourth Paradigm: Data-Intensive Scientific Discovery.

2010, November 01 : ODAI Creates Data Management Plan Resource

NSF recently announced a revision in policy, effective January 18, 2011, that will require a Data Management Plan (DMP) of up to two pages to be submitted as a supplement to all proposals. ODAI has created a resource to help researchers meet the new requirement and to encourage a lifecycle approach to data management. The resource includes information about the NSF DMP requirement, as well as the NIH data sharing policy, and provides examples, templates, referrals, and links to other web resources.

2010, August 22 : Meg Bellinger Presents ODAI Model to the Association of Research Libraries

On October 14-15, The Association of Research Libraries hosted a special forum to explore methods for "Achieving Strategic Change in Research Libraries." Meg Bellinger, Director of the Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure delivered a session focused on Yale's innovative model for building digital content infrastructure that is sustainable and encourages reusability and openness.

2010, July 30 : Youjun Guo Joins ODAI Team

The Office of Digital Assets and Infrastructure is pleased to announce that Youjun Guo has joined the office in the position of Senior Software Developer. In his new role, Youjun will participate in software development of ODAI core services and projects such as Digital Asset Management, Persistent Linking, Cross Collection Discovery, and Digital Preservation.
